Privacy

Short policy.
Plain English.

Uwazia is a reading-first platform. We collect what we need to run the service and not a byte more. No advertising trackers, no data sales, no exceptions.

Effective 16 May 2026

01

What we collect

Uwazia is a reading-first platform. The vast majority of what you do here — browsing concerns, ingredients, brands, Ledger articles — does not require an account, and we don't tie that browsing to your identity.

When you use a feature that requires interaction, we collect only what's necessary: the search query when you use the search bar, the selections you make in the routine finder, and standard server access logs (IP address, browser, timestamp) generated by our hosting provider.

We do not collect health data. We do not collect skin assessments tied to your name. We do not collect children's data — Uwazia is not directed at users under 16.

02

Cookies and analytics

We use minimal first-party storage to remember interface preferences during a session — no third-party advertising cookies.

Privacy-respecting analytics may be enabled to understand which pages are read and which features are used. Where analytics are enabled, they are configured to anonymize IP addresses and exclude any personally identifying information. We do not run cross-site tracking pixels or behavioural advertising scripts.

03

What we share

We do not sell your data. We do not rent it. We do not share it with advertisers.

We share data with the small number of service providers needed to operate the platform — for example, our hosting provider (Vercel), our deliverability provider for transactional email, and standard infrastructure services. These providers are bound by data-processing agreements that limit their use of your data to running the service.

We will disclose data when legally required — a valid subpoena, a court order, or a regulatory request that meets the standard of applicable law. When we receive such a request, we evaluate it against the law and challenge it where appropriate.

04

Email correspondence

If you write to us at uwaziacare@gmail.com or any other Uwazia address, we receive your email, your address, and whatever you choose to send us. We use those messages only to reply to you and, where relevant, to track patterns (e.g., common factual corrections, repeat brand submission gaps).

We will not add your email address to a marketing list without your explicit opt-in. If we launch a newsletter in the future, subscription will be opt-in, the unsubscribe link will work, and the list will not be shared.

05

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to ask us what personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to request deletion, or to object to processing. We honour these rights regardless of jurisdiction — write to uwaziacare@gmail.com with the request and we will respond within thirty days.

If we ever cannot fulfil a request because the data has already been deleted, or because we are legally required to retain it, we will explain the reason.

06

Children

Uwazia is intended for adults making informed decisions about skincare. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under sixteen. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, write to uwaziacare@gmail.com and we will delete it.

07

Changes

When this policy changes in a material way, we will update the effective date at the top of the page and post a brief note on the home page or send a notice to anyone subscribed to direct communications. Cosmetic edits — fixing a typo, clarifying a sentence — won't trigger a notice.

08

Contact

Questions about this policy, or about how we handle your data specifically, should go to uwaziacare@gmail.com. We aim to reply within three working days.
